Mission and Vision
For decades, Haiti has been divided between rich and poor—the very wealthy and those daily struggling to survive. Inequality is evident in the unbalanced spread of Haitian resources; for this reason, violence and misunderstanding has been rampant for decades. The objective of HPCD was to close that gap—to involve the rich in helping the poor to emerge from poverty. HPCD began to search for experienced Haitian businesspeople in order to inspire them toward strong participation and a commitment to social change, by mentoring small business entrepreneurs to run businesses more effectively, more efficiently, more ethically, and thereby, to create new jobs.
Because of this past, HPCD’s vision has spread throughout Haiti. Since 2002, numerous organizations have invested socially and financially in the work of HPCD—Inter-American Foundation, European Union, Concern Worldwide, CRWRC, Partners Worldwide, Notre Dam University of Haiti, FOKAL, PWOFOD, Sogesol, Lumitec, Highmark Consulting Firm, Datacomp USA, and many more.
In addition, dozens of Haitian and international businesspeople have invested their knowledge, experience, time, effort, and finances to advance business growth and job creation within Haiti.
Today, the association of businesspeople within HPCD continues to grow. Also, in two incubators—the first in Varreux, Port-au-Prince, the second in Martissant—HPCD provides resources, training, and networking of experienced businesspeople to small business entrepreneurs.
